UFC Fight Night 65: Miocic vs Hunt Betting Guide

The UFC returns to the land down under this weekend as Heavyweight sluggers Stipe Miocic and adopted Aussie Mark "The Super Samoan" Hunt main event for the UFC's first ever trip to Adelaide. I'm here to try and win you some cash heading into the summer months but as always go with your own opinion and feeling regarding the fights as it is your money on the line so lets get to these bets.

Bet 1: The Parlay

Stipe Miocic 4/9 - Jake Matthews 8/15 - Bec Rawlings 4/7 - Hatsu Hioki 4/11 - Brad Tavares 8/13

Here is one of my Parlay bets for this weekends fights which when looking at the card is a pretty tough one to pick from but I'm fairly confident I have picked these 5 right. So starting off in the women's strawweight division we have Ultimate Fighter season 21 alumni Bec Rawlings who faces off against Veteran Lisa Ellis in what should be a fairly straight forward victory for the Aussie lass. Rawlings who will have the definitive advantage on the feet where Ellis should have the wrestling advantage but is prone to giving up top position on the mat. I'm confident Rawlings can satisfy hometown fans and pick up the stoppage over Ellis.

Moving on we have crafty Japanese fighter Hatsu Hioki looking to rebound from a submission loss against Charles Oliveira as he faces the tough and versatile Daniel Hooker. Hioki a fighter who a lot of people a few years ago thought might challenge the featherweight king Jose Aldo at some point is in need of a win here and should have way too much for Hooker who has very bad defense when it comes to Striking. Hooker can be awkward on the feet as he is very rangy for the division but I don't see him offering much else. The more I look at this fight I only see a Hioki win and most likely via Submission.

Moving on to the lightweight division as two up and comers do battle as former Ultimate Fighter competitor James Vick takes on Australia's next big hope in "The Celtic Kid" Jake Matthews. This fight is a very good test for both fighters and comes at the right time. Matthews an extremely athletic and powerful young man is coming off a beautiful finish over veteran Vagner Rocha where he hit him with a beautiful uppercut before choking out the BJJ Black Belt. Vick is proving to be a serious prospect in the lightweight division and has all the tools to upset Matthews with his range and his come forward attacks which could put Matthews in a tough place. This one could go either way but I just think Mathews is overall the better fighter here and I'm edging Matthews in a close contest.

Onto the co main event as we have Brad Tavares who takes on Aussie Ultimate Fighter winner Robert Whittaker in a middleweight encounter. Now this fight is very close and had me thinking about who may win and in the end I just edged it for the Hawaiian. I went with Tavares based mostly on his point scoring ability, he has a fantastic jab and is pretty good at putting opponents against the cage and getting off with strikes. Whittaker is a fighter who is extremely aggressive and is always looking for the knockout as shown in his last brawl with Clint Hester in which I thought he would be the fighter knocked. Another fight that could go either way but I like Tavares by a very close split decision.

And last up I have the favourite Stipe Miocic to defeat the hometown boy in Mark Hunt in what should an interesting match up. We all know what Mark Hunt game plan will be and that is walk Miocic down and land that big walk away uppercut but why I like Miocic so much is his versatility. I fancy Miocic to bring the same game plan he has for Roy Nelson into this fight - stay elusive and hit from the outside while trying to take Hunt down. It is a hard fight too chose between but I feel after his last fight against Junior Dos Santos he showed a great heart and a great chin so that's why I think he gets the W.

Bet 2: Method of Victory

Jonavin Webb via decision - 9/4 - Stipe Miocic via decision -15/4 - Jake Matthews via decision 15/8

These feel like solid bets to be and definitely worth a punt. You make wish to even parlay them together, at odds of 44/1 this bet is at least worth a few quid.

Other Prop Bets to consider

Hatsu Hioki via submission 2/1
Sean O'Connell via TKO/KO 43/20
Bec Rawlings/Lisa Ellis under 2.5 rds 11/8
Perosh/O'Connell under 1.5 rds EVS
Hunt/Miocic over 3.5 rds 9/5
