The UK's Danny 'Cheesecake Assassin' Mitchell has been release from the UFC following a loss to Wang Sai in August at UFC Fight Night 49. The Yorkshire born fighter confirmed the release earlier today via his facebook page:
"I can confirm I've been released from the UFC. I like many people thought I would get another shot after the last fight was a close decision that I honestly believe I won but I ain't gonna complain, this game is ruthless at the top," he wrote.

"I will be looking to get on a win streak and back in there as fast as possible, at least I will be able to do something I've not done since my 4th pro fight and fight local at the Donny Dome [Doncaster Dome]! How sick would that be!"
On the back of an impressive win over former UFC fighter Besam Yousef, 28-year-old Danny Mitchell, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu made his UFC debut against Igor Araujo at UFC Fight Night - Gustafsson vs. Manuwa losing by unanimous decision.

After the loss, Mitchell was scheduled to face Jingliang Li at UFC 173 but pulled out of the fight due to the death of his father. He later went on to face Wang Sai at UFC Fight Night 49, again losing by unanimous decision, although many of his fans believe the result should have been the other way round.

Mitchell, who has fought for both Bamma and Cage Warriors leaves the UFC with a 0-2 record in the promotion and 14-6 record overall with signature wins over Nicholas Musoke, Dean Amasinger, Besam Yousef, and a draw to Cathal Pendred.
