After months of campaigning from the UK fans to see Bellator MMA back on domestic television, it has been announced that starting with Bellator 131; which takes place at the San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center on Saturday, November 15, the promotion's events will be syndicated through Viacom owned channel 5* (Five Star).
Bellator 131, which is headlined by a grudge match between Tito Ortiz and Stephan Bonnar, as well as a lightweight world title rematch between Will Brooks and Michael Chandler, will air on 5* at 9pm on Sunday, November 16, which means UK fans will only have to watch the event on a 24 hour delay.
This comes as news after Viacom purchased the UK brand Channel 5, and all of its sister channels back in May this year. Now with more UK fighters than ever in its ranks, such as: Paul "Semtex" Daley, Liam McGeary, Linton Vassell and Rob Sinclair, it is a prime time for the promotion to focus on the growing UKMMA market.
Bellator President Scott Coker said: “We are very pleased to have one of the UK’s most popular free-to-air networks airing one of the biggest fights of the year
"With Tito Ortiz, Stephan Bonnar, Michael Chandler, Will Brooks, King Mo and Melvin Manhoef all featured on this card, our friends in the UK are in for an unforgettable, action-packed night. We look forward to making Bellator an MMA fixture for our fans in the UK."
