Cage Warrior 73 Card Now Finalised with the Addition of Lew Long vs Matt Inman
The card is now set for Cage Warriors 73, which will take place on Saturday, November 1, at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England.
Officials have today confirmed an intriguing welterweight contest for the main card of CWFC’s twelfth event of the year, with Matt Inman and Lew Long scheduled to lock horns.
Inman (13-6) returns to action for the first time since May, when he saw a four-fight win streak snapped by Mauro Chimento at Cage Warriors 68 in Liverpool.
Prior to that loss, Inman had climbed towards the summit of CWFC’s welterweight division with a run of victories that included a first-round submission of title challenger Mohsen Bahari.
The 28-year-old Englishman, who fights out of the SBG camp in Manchester, has taken all but one of his thirteen professional wins inside the distance, with an equal number of submission and (T)KO finishes on his ledger.
Having made a successful CWFC welterweight debut against Steve Dinsdale at CWFC 72 last month, Welshman Long (8-3) will be looking to put consecutive wins together for the first time since joining the Cage Warriors roster in 2012.“I’m really looking forward to being back in the cage, especially in Newcastle where I’ve fought several times before,” said Inman, who graduated with a law diploma earlier this year.
“I’ve been working extremely hard and I’ve made a lot of improvements since my last fight. I’ll look like a completely different fighter on November 1 in Newcastle.”
A judo and kickboxing black belt, the former lightweight holds other notable victories over Diego Vital and former Ultimate Fighter contestant Mark Glover.
Long, 25, said:
Meanwhile, a featherweight contest between Paddy Pimblett and Stephen Martin has also been added to the bill for CWFC 73, while Kyle Redfearn has stepped in to face Leeroy Barnes in a middleweight bout following the withdrawal of Chris Scott due to injury.“I can’t wait for this fight. I’m looking forward to getting another win, which will be my third on Cage Warriors, against a good opponent in Matt Inman.”
Cage Warriors 73 will be headlined by the CWFC lightweight world title meeting of defending champion Stevie Ray and challenger Curt Warburton.
With the addition of Long vs Inman, Pimblett vs Martin and Redfearn vs Barnes, Cage Warriors 73 now includes:
