So the UFC returns to Boston once again for a pretty fun looking fight night card headlined by the one and only Conor McGregor as he looks to take out dangerous veteran Dennis Siver. As always I am here to guide you on some of the bets I like, but as always go with your own gut feeling. Coming off a very profitable UFC 182 where 2 of the bets I posted cashed in and the parlay bet was let down only by the stunning KO from Paul Felder over Danny Castillo but lets get straight on to the bets.
Bet 1 Stake £5 Returns £69
Charles Rosa 8/11
Johnny Case 1/2
Patrick Holohan 4/11
Cathal Pendred 5/4
Benson Henderson 8/11
So as per usual we start off with our Accumulator bet and 1st fight we focus on is American Top Team fighter and Boston's own Charles Rosa as he faces off against the Blackzilians Sean Soriano in a match up where a victory is very much needed for both fighters but im choosing Rosa here overall I just think he is better everywhere and is by far the smarter fighter only advantage Soriano may have is in Striking but he is very open and very prone to getting taken down. Rosa who has 9 wins to his name have all come via stoppages and has a gas tank to help late in this fight do I think he can stop Soriano...Yes I do but I see this fight clearly going to the judges and for Rosa to get his hand raised for the 1st time via decision.
Next up we have Johnny Case as he looks to pick up his 2nd UFC victory as he takes on newcomer Frankie Perez in a Lightweight encounter Starting off I will admit I am a fan of Perez a very talented up and coming prospect fighting out of Ricardo Almeida's gym in New Jersey but I really think this is a bad stylistic match up for him Case who is very well rounded with solid striking with some great combinations with some really nice submissions. In his UFC debut Case took out the always durable Kazuki Tokudome early in the 1st round via Rear Naked Choke which was all started with a big shot on the feet I just don't feel Perez has what it takes to win this one so I side with Case.
On to the Flyweight division as the 1st Irish fighter takes to the cage on Sunday with Patrick Holohan taking on Shane Howell. This fight right here is your Banker of the night and I do not see this getting out of round one Holohan coming off a difficult loss against Chris Kelades gets an easy matchup here against a guy very similar to Paddy but nowhere near as good. Howell has been submitted 5 times and against someone as opportunistic on the ground as The Hooligan he is in for a tough night so I see no other option than a Holohan victory and get him via Submission.
On to Cathal Pendred now whenever I watch him fight he always gives me fits but he is always classed as the underdog which always in the end makes me money as he always seems to somehow get the victory. In this fight Cathal has to get the fight to the ground he won't want to stand and trade with golden gloves champ Sean Spencer but I feel with his height and weight advantage on the night getting the takedown is the best way for him to win this fight it may be close in the end but I don't see anything but a Pendred win.
And if we make it to the final fight on this bet we are going to be biting our fingernails as Benson Henderson and Donald Cerrone face off for a third time in what will be a very close fought match up with these two locking horns before with Benson coming out on top on both occasions. Now as I said in my last article pre viewing UFC 182 I just find it impossible betting against Cowboy except for this match up yes Cerrone has improved a lot since there match up's in the WEC days but I feel that Benson just has his number and especially coming off only fighting 2 weeks ago all be it not taking much Damage against Myles Jury I just think Bendo is the fighter to choose here.
Bet 2- Method of Victory Stake £10 Returns £200
Lorenz Larkin 7/5
Cathal Pendred 11/5
Gleison Tibau 8/5
Now these are the type of bets I love where you can really make some big money and I reckon all three fights here go to a decision with only one looks a little dangerous and that is Lorenz Larkin but this guy just has to show the potential he showed back in Strikeforce sometime soon. Even if you don't throw big money on this bet even a few quid on it could turn into a very nice profit and if you fancy putting Larkin in maybe look at Benson Henderson at 5/4 and you can still make a very tidy sum.
Bet 3 - Irish Special Odds 5/2
Patrick Holohan
Cathal Pendred
Conor McGregor
Now betting anything on Conor McGregor this week isn't really advised as the odds are greatly in his favour but this treble is a money maker looking at you so get on it.
Closer to fight time keep an eye out for Performance bonuses as you can bet your last quid that Conor McGregor will get one.
Prop Bets to keep an eye on
Conor McGregor to finish fight inside 2 minutes- 6/4Patrick Holohan via Submission - 11/10
Matt Van Buren/Sean O'Connell under 2.5 rds - EVS
Cathal Pendred via Submission or Points - 8/5
Chris Wade via Submission - 13/10
Patrick Holohan to win in round 1 - 17/10
So that's some of the bets I like this week hope you all rake it in and enjoy the event when it comes around!
