Kingdom MMA brings you its latest Kountermove tournament this weekend, but for any newcomers who have a few questions, here is the essential information. Kountermove is simply fantasy MMA, pick a team of fighters who you think will win and your chosen fighters are awarded points based on strikes, takedowns and rounds won etc.
You can join our Kountermove tournament for UFC Fight Night 57 and be in with a chance to win $25 right here: http://www.kountermove.com/join/34819-kingdommmas-ufc-fight-night-57-25-fantasy-mma-freeroll-game-on-ufc-fight-night-57-edgar-vs-swanson-T-free/
If you want to win a bit of money but you need some guidance then take a look at Kingdom MMA’s predictions, our ‘favourite five’ below, a few fighters who you may fancy picking.
1. Cub Swanson ($5200) - Following a UFC debut defeat to Ricardo Lamas, Cub Swanson (21-5) has put together a tremendous six-fight winning streak, including four post-fight bonuses. After his most recent win over Jeremy Stephens many felt he was in line for a title shot, however he has one last hurdle to climb against Frankie Edgar (17-4-1). Edgar has bounced back from three title fight defeats and with a dominant performance in his last outing against B.J. Penn, 'The Answer' could land himself back into contention with a win over Swanson.
Edgar is yet to be finished in his professional MMA career, so the key to this fight remains in the durability of either man. Over the course of his UFC career, Swanson's instincts to finish a fight have increased exponentially. If he can figure out a way to counteract Edgar's grinding style then Swanson could be on the verge of a huge win, we expect the former WEC contender to impose his relentless pressure over five-rounds and take this one by decision. It's a close fight but Swanson is more than capable of racking up some Kountermove points.
2. Bobby Green ($4800) - A split decision victory over Josh Thomson really opened up the eyes of the MMA world to the lightweight contender, Bobby Green (23-5). The win over Thomson stretched his hot streak to eight victories on the bounce, however Green now faces one of his toughest tests to date against the taekwondo black belt, Edson Barboza (14-2). The Brazilian is back in the win column following his first-round finish of Evan Dunham.
Despite Barboza's extensive hi-light reel, he's always struggled when he is matched up with a guy who refuses to give him the time to set-up his lethal striking, and in Green you have a prime example of someone who has the potential to push Barboza to a breaking point. If Green can close the distance and dictate the pace of the fight then we expect him to grind out a decision and pick up some points a long the way.
3. Alexey Oleinik ($4700) - 37-year-old Alexey Oleinik (49-9-1) has been round the MMA circuit more than most guys ever will and his experience has seem him boast an impressive record. However, after 17 years of fighting, Oleinik is now amongst the elite in the UFC and he will be looking to build on his debut success when he meets Jared Rosholt (11-1). 'The Big Show' is undefeated in the UFC, picking up three decision victories, most recently over Soa Palelei.
An incredible 40 of 'The Boa Constrictor's' 49 victories have come by way of submission, so expect the Russian to take the action to the ground. Rosholt is yet to be submitted in his professional career, but if it goes anywhere near the canvas then it will most likely be a matter of when, not if the submission occurs. With Oleinik in your team there is big points available with a finish just waiting to happen.
4. Joseph Benavidez ($5400) - Team Alpha Male's top flyweight fighter, Joseph Benavidez (20-4) finds himself in one of the toughest spots possible in MMA, despite being the favourable fighter against 99% of the division, Benavidez has a long road back to the title whilst Demetrious Johnson remains at the top of the heap. However he looks to continue on this path against Dustin Ortiz (14-3), #13 ranked Ortiz rides a two fight win streak with split decision triumphs over Ray Borg and Justin Scoggins.
With Ortiz training at Roufusport, a long with many elite level fighters, Benavidez will no doubt be in for a challenge, however we expect the former WEC bantamweight to handle any situation that may arise on fight night. Look for a huge points return from Benavidez, who is known for his finishing capabilities, he is an absolute must have in your Kountermove team.
5. Nick Hein ($4900) - Undefeated TUF veteran James Vick (6-0) looks to test his skills against judo black belt Nick Hein (11-1-1). Hein rides a five fight win streak but 'The Texecutioner' will be the biggest challenge the German has faced thus far in his career.
It will be the first time Hein has fought in an MMA bout outside of Germany and it will be interesting to see whether this effects him inside the cage. However, Vick has a tendency to throw caution to the wind and Hein has the technical ability to capitalise on any sloppy mistakes the American makes. If Hein implements his game plan correctly and out grapples Vick then there will be many points up for grabs for our Kountermove players.
