Amongst the fighters looking to win titles this coming Saturday at Full Contact Contender 11 is amateur middleweight Steven Henshall who faces off against Dan Stoddard.

Training out of FCPC in Rochdale, 4-1 Henshall already has an amateur strap to his name in the form of the Rage in the Cage 185lb belt. Both of these fighters are coming off TKO victories in their last outings so this one will be lively.

We caught up with Henshall to get his thoughts on the fight against Stoke based Stoddard.

Hi Steven, thanks for taking the time out to talk to us ahead of FCC 11, how has preparation gone for the fight?

"Hi, preparations gone perfect, I had a few injuries coming off my last fight, so I had time to relax and take a break before I started my 12 week camp which has done me well."

You have fought on FCC before but how does it feel to be fighting for the belt this time around?

"The FCC belt is in my opinion the best belt to have in the country, I’ve wanted the belt since I first fought on the show so I'm very happy to be fighting for it."

Onto your opponent Dan Stoddard, what do you know about him? What would you say his strengths are?

"I don't know much about Dan, I don't really worry about my opponent, I just make sure I'm doing what I need to do every day in training and the fight will take care of itself."

You’re both coming off TKO wins from the same night in your last outings, are you expecting a stand up affair this time around?

"I'm not expecting anything, I think when you set a game plan or vision a fight going a certain way and it doesn't it can throw you, I'm ready wherever the fight goes I'm happy standing or on the ground."

Given that you have significant height and reach advantage over Stoddard, how much of an edge do you believe this will give you, especially if the fight stays standing?

"Being taller can be an advantage but it's not a given, I have to use all of my tools, not just try my best to keep the distance, so the size difference doesn't bother me either way."

How does it feel to be fighting on the same card as your FCPC coach Martin Stapleton? What kind of crowd can we expect given that you are both local lads too?

"With Stapes on the card it draws a lot more interest from fans but also sponsors and promoters, so it's good for anyone who's fighting."

With you already having the Rage in the Cage title, what are your plans going forward if you pick up the FCC title? Would you be open to fighting on both shows and defending both belts in the future?

"I'm definitely looking to defend both belts, I would've defended my rage in the cage title at the next show in November if I wasn't fighting on FCC."

Finally, is there anyone you would like to thank in the build up to the fight?

"Everyone at FCPC, fighters and coaches who push me to get better every day, to many to name they know who they are, also Dave green the S&C coach at FCPC for the advice and help he's given me, and all of my supporters who come to cheer me on."
