Oli Thompson has put the BAMMA Light-Heavyweight division on notice ahead of his BAMMA 17 fight against Brett McDermott: "Nobody is the division is as powerful and explosive as I am."

Dubbed the 'Battle of the Spartans', sharing the same likeness, Oli Thompson and Brett McDermott are set to clash at BAMMA 17 which takes place from the Victoria Warehouse, Manchester on December 6.

The former 2006 TWI Britain's Strongest Man, holds a record of 12-7, and after back-to-back losses, the 1st Generation Sussex fighter drops down to 205lbs for the first time in his career.

"[I am] so pumped up to be making my debut at 205lb at BAMMA 17" said Thompson, "I'm motivated and hungry, that can only mean trouble for Brett."

Flex MMA Manchester fighter Brett McDermott (2-1) is set to make his BAMMA return after conceding defeat to Thomas Denham at BAMMA 12.

McDermott has relished the challenge to fight the reinvigorated 34 year-old: "Oli Thompson has fought some of the biggest names on some of  the biggest shows in the MMA circuit, to fight him on a show as great as BAMMA is going to be the highlight of my MMA career.

"He's a mountain of a man which I'm ready to climb to try and gain the victory"

This comes after the announcement that Colin "Freakshow" Fletcher will headline the event against Michael Brightmon.
