Full Contact Contender returned with its 11th show in emphatic fashion on Saturday night at the Bolton Macron Stadium. The fight card, full of pros and amateurs delivered throughout the whole night making FCC 11 the best show to date.
In the main event of the evening, Brendan Loughnane successfully defended his FCC lightweight title against Ali Maclean in impressive fashion. Using leg kicks and quality footwork, Loughnane kept Maclean at bay whilst landing shots when he wanted. In the 2nd round, the champion teed off on Maclean landing some heavy punches which resulted in the referee jumping in and stopping it. Loughnane will now move on to a new promotion which could be announced Monday and a drop down to 145lbs is also on the cards.
In the co-main, fan favourite Kane ‘The Danger’ Mousah took on Hayden Critchfield. It was excellent from from Mousah as he got the victory in the 1st round via rear naked choke. Great performance for the lightweight prospect who now, goes on to face Marc Diakese at BAMMA 17 Dec 6, Manchester.
Martin Stapleton featured on FCC for the second time in a row as his clinical grappling and control helped him on his way to a second round TKO stoppage.
Also, Dec Williams of Manchester Predators scored an excellent knockout of a dangerous opponent.
In most brutal fashion, Danny Missin destroyed prospect Aaron Aby. Relentless elbows were the key for Missin who hammered down numerous shots as Aby went in for a takedown. After that, Aby was on wobbly legs and bleeding badly before he slipped and the referee stopped the fight. Massive win for Missin who was on a 3 fight losing streak going into the bout.
Harry Marple had a successful pro debut as he dispatched his opponent via rear naked choke in the first round.
Ashley Reece vs Ant O’Connor topped the amateur title fight bill and rightly so. The first two rounds were Ant O’Connor’s as he really imposed his wrestling game on a notoriously slow starting Ashley Reece. The defending champion Reece would somehow find a way back into the fight which in turn saw him flip the tables and finish the fight via rear naked choke in the 4th round. Super impressive heart from Reece who is surely destined for the pro ranks in his next outing.
Robbie Fallon became the new FCC amateur bantamweight title by submitting Ben Dearden via rear naked choke in the 1st round.
Michael Younis also claimed gold by knocking out Adam Wright in just 13 seconds to become the new FCC amateur light heavy weight champion.
Ste Henshall off FCPC added to his rage in the cage amateur middleweight title by capturing the FCC equivalent. He got the standing guillotine finish over Dan Stoddard in the first round.
Callum Gahgan’s awesome submission of Jonno Mears is also worthy of a mention. Dubbed the best grappler in the gym by HAMMA coach Sean Martin, Gahgan lived up to that very statement by arm baring his opponent in the first round.
