Tom Breese Returns After Long Layoff to Face Philip Mulpeter at Cage Warriors 74
Tom Breese will make his highly-anticipated Cage Warriors Fighting Championship debut when he faces the sizeable task of taking on Philip Mulpeter on Saturday, November 15, 2014.The pair will clash on the main card at Cage Warriors 74, which will take place at the Copper Box Arena in the Olympic Park in London, England.
Having taken the UK’s domestic circuit by storm, Breese (6-0) signed an exclusive CWFC deal in April 2013, but his promotional debut was put on hold due to a long-term knee injury.
However, having undergone surgery and an extensive period of rehabilitation, the 22-year-old Englishman is finally ready to get his first taste of Cage Warriors action.
Breese, who has taken all six of his professional wins via stoppage - five by way of submission - is currently preparing for his CWFC debut at the renowned Tristar Gym in Montreal, Canada.
He said: “Philip Mulpeter is a solid opponent from a good team and he has improved a lot recently, but I’m looking to make a statement in my first Cage Warriors fight and show a much-improved Tom Breese.
“I’m currently in training camp with my team at Tristar Gym, and I’ll be prepared to put on a big performance come fight night.”
Mulpeter (7-4), an SBG Ireland team-mate of former CWFC champions Conor McGregor, Cathal Pendred and Chris Fields, has carved out a reputation as one of the most durable fighters in the CWFC welterweight division since signing for the promotion in 2012.
A 25-year-old Irishman, Mulpeter’s progress has been somewhat hampered by a number of opponent withdrawals in the last twelve months, most recently when his bout against Jake Bostwick at CWFC 70 last month fell through due to Bostwick’s failure to make weight.
Having looked impressive in his two CWFC wins to date, which saw him defeat Warren Kee and Aldric Cassata via TKO, Mulpeter will be aiming to claim his biggest scalp yet on November 15.
“I’m looking forward to getting back in there and putting another ‘W’ on my record,” Mulpeter said. “After my last fight didn’t go ahead, I’m really excited about this one.”
Cage Warriors 74 will be headlined by the CWFC welterweight world title meeting of defending champion Nicolas Dalby and challenger Mohsen Bahari, with many more exciting fights still to be revealed.
