For the third week in a row I was attending a UKMMA event after previously heading down to Shock N Awe in Portsmouth and Cage Warriors 72 in Newport. This past weekend it was time for Shinobi War 3 in Deeside. The way Shinobi turned their venue into a night of quality amateur MMA amazed me. The set-up is wonderful. Colourful lighting assisted with a fog machine, you wouldn’t have known you were in a Leisure centre.
Main event: Shinobi MMA Fighting Championships Lightweight Title Fight
Thor Palsson vs Anthony O’Connor
The Main event featured Thor Palsson and Anthony O’Connor for the Shinobi Lightweight Title Fight. The fight began with a fast back and forth pace but both men made it to the second round where Palsson locked in a guillotine choke to secure the Lightweight title.

John Shink vs Dominic Wooding
The Co-Main event consisted of two very hot prospects as John Shink took on Dominic Wooding for the Shinobi Flyweight Title. Wooding rocked Shink in the first round but Shink held on and regained his composure. As the fight went on, Shink looked more in control and Wooding seemed a beaten man. This fight will be a great step for both men in their development as fighters and a lot can be taken from this fight.

Earlier in the night, the prelims resulted in all the fights finishing in the first round. A quick start to say the least and the fans got what they wanted. After a short break, the show moved onto the undercard which involved a mixture of slick submissions, a brutal finish from Connor Robinson and two non-stop fights between Faisal Malik Vs Otis London and Birgir Tomasson Vs Bobby Pallett.
