Thiago Silva Released for the UFC Again

by Chris Houten - @mrhouts

Just 2 weeks after having his UFC contract reinstated, the promotion have once again released Thiago Silva.

Silva was originally released from the promotion in February after being arrested following a showdown at Pablo Popovitch Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Oakland Park, Florida. Silva was said to have threatened his then wife and Popovich with a gun after accusing the two of having an affair. Silva was given his old job back with the UFC after charges against the fighter wear dropped when his wife was deemed "uncooperative" after fleeing the USA.

Silva is now once again out of a job after his ex-wife, Thaysa Kamiji, posted a series of videos on YouTube, purportedly showing the Silva threatening Kamiji with a gun, whilst being under the influence of an illegal substance. The UFC released the following statement regarding the release:
Thiago Silva was released from his UFC contract on Feb. 7 due to his arrest by police in South Florida. The charges against Silva were dropped by the Broward County District Attorney’s office and Silva was re-signed to the UFC earlier this month. Based on new information received today in the form of video and audio evidence, Silva has been terminated from his UFC contract.
Silva leaves the promotion with a 7-3 record with 2 no contests - both both due to failed drug tests, and a 16-3, 2 NC record overall.
