UFC Fight Night 47: Bader vs St Preux Betting Tips
by Will Martin - @BIGBILBAR7MMAAfter nearly a 3 week hiatus, the UFC returns to action as they travel to Bangor, Maine for the first time for UFC Fight Night 47 where top 10 LHW's Ryan Bader and Ovince St Preux take top billing. While I am excited to see the UFC back on the box, I'm even more excited for a chance to test my knowledge and attempt to make a tidy profit and hopefully we can all win with these betting tips for UFC fight night 47.
Note, these tips are for guidance only. Please bet sensible and only if you can afford to lose - I will not be held responsible, if you lose you house, wife, dignity or self respect.
First treble I really like is Sam Alvey (11/10) Shawn Jordan (1/2) and Brad Taveres (4/11). Sam Alvey faces England's Tom Watson and from the minute this match up was announced, I have been siding with 'Smilin Sam'. Alvey has the better wrestler, and I think he has what it takes to trouble Watson's weak takedown defence. More importantly though, Alvey has the superior gas tank and as long as he doesn't get into a slugfest with 'Kong' he should get a decision victory.
I also like Shawn Jordan over Jack May. I feel Jordan has the more power than May and throws at better angles, getting his strikes off quicker. Jordan is the more experience fighter, and he is also the better athlete, I like him to finish the fight in the 1st round.
With my final pick I am going with Brad Tavares. With Tavares, I just feel the kid is better everywhere than Tim Boetsch. He is faster, stronger and is on the up on the sport, as opposed to Tim who I feel is on the decline. If Tavares can avoid being put on his back he has all the tools to stifle the Barbarian and eventually take him down and maybe even get a stoppage but most likely get a decision victory.
A Parlay bet I like is Ovince St Preux (11/8), Robbie Peralta (6/4), Zach Makovsky (3/10), Ross Pearson (8/11) and Frankie Saenz. I don't know the odds on Saenz as they have yet to be published but with his opponent not having fought in over 2 years I like the more active fighter. Even without Saenz, I think this a very solid 4 fighter bet and if you wanted you could even add a few fighters who are fighting at Cage Warriors 70 earlier that night. I like Philip Mulpeter and Joseph Duffy to add to this and a couple of quid should yield a nice little return with either the 4 fighter or 6 fighter bet.
One match special that really jumped out to me is Ovince St Preux to win via Submission at 10/1, that is HUGE and one I will be all over considering OSP's last 2 fights have ended via submission and if Tito Ortiz can submit Bader, I'm confident St Preux can do it too. Admittedly this is a risky bet, and if you bank roll is low you may wish to take St Preux to win either Submission or Decision at 9/2 which is still great value.
The last bet I have here is a method of victory special on the 3 big fights of the night with Brad Tavares via Points (EVS) Ross Pearson via Points (11/5) and Ovince St Preux via submission (10/1). A £1 bet on this you will return £70, not a bad return for less than a bottle of Coke and definitely worth a punt!
Finally for anyone looking for an undercard fighter to put money on, my choice would be Alan Jouban. Jouban has a very tough fight against Seth Baczynski but has all the tools to pull off the upset victory.
