Mansour Barnaoui Set to face Michael Brightmon at Bamma 16, Accuses Andre Winner of Refusing to Fight Him

Mansour Barnaoui is set to face Hawaiian challenger, Michael Brightmon, in one of three title bouts that night. Other championship matches confirmed for the BAMMA 16 card are between Tom Duquesnoy and Ashleigh Grimshaw for the BAMMA World Featherweight title; and Leon 'Rocky' Edwards and Shaun Taylor for the BAMMA Lonsdale British Welterweight belt. The event takes place at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on 13th September.

Flying in from Honolulu in Hawaii, Michael Brightmon, brings a professional fight record of 12-4-0 to the BAMMA cage. His recent victories this year have come against Predoi Flavius via Submission Americana at Romanian Xtreme Fighting 11 on the 31st May, and Catalin Miron via Decision at Romanian Xtreme Fighting 12 on 4th August. Past titles include the Hawaiian Fighting Championship 185 lbs title, the X1 Open Weight Grand Prix title, the X1 155lb state title, the X1 165lbs XMA title (Extreme Martial Arts) and the Strictly Bangers XMA 160lbs title. Brightmon's fighting style relies predominantly on wrestling and boxing.

Brightmon said:
"I want to thank BAMMA for giving me this opportunity to fight. I am truly humbled for this chance to compete in one of the biggest organisations in the world."
BAMMA's crowned World Lightweight champion, Mansour 'Tarzan' Barnaoui, returns from Team Magnum in Paris, with a current record of 11 -2-0.  Both Barnaoui's losses have been due to judges' decision and he has never been stopped. His first 6 professional bouts were under French Pankration rules, after which he began competing internationally under Unified Rules across Canada, Switzerland and Russia before first competing on BAMMA for the BAMMA World Lightweight title. The French Tunisian stopped Curt Warburton at BAMMA 13 just 4:08 into round 1 to win the belt via TKO. The new champion wasted no time in calling out fan favourite Colin "Freakshow" Fletcher to challenge him for the title. Barnaoui went onto submit Fletcher in the 1st round at BAMMA 14, following an entertaining back-n-forth scrap that saw him retain the title and win the hearts of UK fans.

Barnaoui said:
"If the BAMMA fans haven't seen me fighting in a while, it is not because of injuries as people may think. My return was delayed because it was a hard deal to find an opponent after beating 2 of the best in the UK. Andre Winner who was ranking under them was one of the logical challengers for the BAMMA belt, but he has avoided and then refused this opportunity several times. I'm not afraid of anyone and want to face some of the best. To conquer the heart of UK fans I am willing to face the best UK fighter; and if the opportunity was there I would call out out Connor McGregor and Norman Parke, the same way, as they are the top UK and Irish fighters ranking at Lightweight. Winner fears to fight a kid like me, but Michael Brightmon does not. On September 13th I will smash through Brightmon and will expect Andre Winner to be ready next."
