Welcome to Krakow, Poland! This is the UFC's first venture over there, and aim to tempt fight fans with a heavyweight legend returning go fight an old foe in a rematch 8 years in the making & a local favourite in the co-main event.
Joanne Calderwood v Maryna Moroz
Calderwood comes off a dominant performance of Seo Hee Ham last time out after starring on the Ultimate Fighter. She has excellent Muay Thai striking, and puts her perfect record on the line against another perfect record in Maryna Moroz. Moroz has finished all her fights, 4 by submission so i'd expect her to try and drag this fight to the ground. Should be interesting.
Prediction: Calderwood by unanimous decision
Bartosz Fabianski v Garreth McLellan
A typical striker versus grappler battle here. McLellan, the dangerous South African submission fighter has won 5 of his last 6 by tapout. Meanwhile, Fabianski is unbeaten in 4 with 2 Kos in that run. Unfortunately I don't like the chances of the Poland native, and think he'll struggle against the grappling skills of McLellan.
Prediction: McLellan by unanimous decision
Jan Blachowicz v Jimi Manuwa
This is simple: someones getting knocked out! Manuwa comes off a disappointing first career loss to Alexander Gustaffson last time out, but does have a career record of 13 Kos, 1 submission in 14 fights. Blachowicz, meanwhile, comes in on a 6 fight win streak, including a terrific stoppage of Ilir Latifi last time. I think this will be fight of the night. And not just because I'm English!
Prediction: Manuwa by knockout
Gabriel Gonzaga v Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic
Hmm. This is interesting. Gonzaga needs a win after losing 3 of his last 5 including his last 2. Cro Cop, fighting against 'quality' fighters (ignore the Japanese 'fights') is 1-4. I assume the signing and subsequent booking of this main event was to try and get some well loved fighters onto the card (and keep Bellator from adding to their OAP division) and could be an entertaining fight. The bottom line: Gonzaga loses, potentially gets his P45. Cro Cop loses, becomes the gatekeeper. Again.
Prediction: Gonzaga by submission
