Cage Warriors Veteran fighter Artem Lobov today claimed via social media that BAMMA featherweight Brendan Loughnane turned him down when BAMMA were seeking a replacement for Loughnane's original BAMMA 17 opponent Zi Shah.

Loughnane is now set to face Frenchman Florian Rousseau on the prelims of BAMMA 17 this Saturday which takes place in Manchester at the Victoria Warehouse. The fight will be Loughnane's first stint in the 145lb featherweight division.

Dubbed 'the russian hammer' Lobov has had an active year in MMA notching wins over Ali McClean (Loughnane's last opponent) and Andrew Fisher in a fight where he came from behind to TKO the latter.

Lobov first made the comments via Kingdom MMA's interview with Brendan Loughnane saying:

"He gets a title for being the biggest pussy on BAMMA for turning me down"

Kingdom MMA reached out for the featherweight veteran to elaborate on his comments and he had this to say:

"I was offered to fight him on BAMMA this weekend as I believe there was a pullout, I of course accepted the fight but unfortunately Brendan was afraid and didnt take the fight even though it would have been short notice for me"

Asked whether he would like to face Loughnane in the future on a BAMMA card, Lobov said:

"I would love to fight on BAMMA, I would quickly separate men from boys and we know what pile Brendan is in tut tut"

With the news of Lobov's SBG team mate Chris Fields signing for BAMMA, be assured that a fight with Loughnane is very much a possibility in the near future.
