Juan Puig vs Doo Ho Choi

The UFC returned to Texas on Saturday night and the first fight of the night opened the card up as we hope the rest of the night will continue.

It really didn't take long for Choi to find his range after throwing one right jab and missing he perfectly timed the second to counter Puig and land perfectly on the chin. That punch dropped Puig and Choi jumped on to make sure he walked away victorious on his Octogan debut. The win for Choi takies his career record to 12-1 and his streak to 10 with eight of those by KO/ TKO. He is certainly a promising prospect for the future.

Puig now slips to 11-3 and 0-2 in the UFC, after being finished twice in the first round it may be back to the smaller shows now for Puig.

Official Decision: Doo Ho Choi defeats Juan Puig by TKO 0:18 seconds Round 1

Paige VanZant vs Kailin Curran

To end the show on Fight Pass it was the turn of the Straweights as Paige VanZant and Kailin Curran showed the world what can be expected when the rest of the 115lbers join them once the current series of TUF has finished.

In a very exciting start from start to finish Paige VanZant was looking for the finish at every possible occasion. Although she was taken down a number of times as soon as she had her back on the mat she was looking to either get back up or looking for the submission, attempting numerous armbars in the first round alone. By the end of the first round VanZant was close to finishing the fight from but the bell saved Curran who was being pounded from the top.

The second round was a closer contest but it was always being controlled by VanZant who used the clinch to great effect to score lots of strikes. Curran was able to get the fight down on the ground again but she couldn't keep VanZant down and it seemed Curran didn't have much left in the tank.

By the third round it was all Paige and once she trapped Curran on the cage and threw some bombs it was all over.

A very exciting fight and I can't wait to see the rest of the straweights join the division and when they do Paige VanZant will be right up there with the rest of the contenders.

Official Decision: Paige VanZant defeats Kailin Curran by TKO 2:54 Round 3
