Originally reported by the UFC's Brazilian TV partner, Globo Davey Grant will meet Douglas D'Silva at UFC on Fox 14 in Stockholm, Sweden on January 24th at the 30,000 seat Tele2 Arena. The event is headlined by Alexander Gustafsson vs Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson, who meet to decide the next Light-heavyweight contender. Although unofficial, its expected Grant vs D'Silva will take place on the events preliminary card.
A beaten Ultimate Fighter finalist, Davey Grant fights for the first time since his TUF 18 Finale loss to Chris Holdsworth. A Shock n Awe and Made 4 the Cage veteran, the 28-year old fighter from Durham was set to face Roland Delorme at UFC Fight Night - Gustaffson vs Manuwa but was forced to pull out the night before the fight as he was not given clearance to fight by a doctor due to a torn meniscus. Grant, who is currently in California training at El Nino Training Centre alongside Gilbert Melendez, brings an 8-2 record into the fight with D'Silva with all 8 victories coming inside the distance.
Fighting out of Team NFT in Brazil, 28-year old D'Silva has amassed a 22-0 record fighting on the Brazilian regional circuit with promotions such as Super Pitbull Fight, Shooto Brazil, and Jungle Fight before signing for the UFC earlier in the year. D'Silva made his octagon debut against Russian featherweight, Zubaira Tukhugov at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs Mousasi, losing by unanimous decision. The loss to Tukhugov prompted a drop to bantamweight where he will now fight for the first time in his career. At 22-1 in his professional career, D'Silva has 18 wins by KO, and one win by submission, with 10 first round finishes.
