After the best card of 2014 last weekend with UFC 178 the fights keep on coming this weekend with two events, the first being in Stockholm, Sweden as Gunner Nelson headlines in his native Scandinavia against the tough American Rick Story and in Halifax, Canada Rory MacDonald looks to cement his place as the next in line for a title shot as he faces former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine. You know the drill already, I will give you a parlay this time with so many fights I'm going to pick three fights from each card to hopefully get you a winner then on to the treble and finally some method wins.
Bet 1
£5 stake returns £53
Cathal Pendred 8/13
Mairbek Taisumov 4/7
Nico Musoke 1/2
Patrick Holohan 1/3
Daron Cruickshank 4/7
Chad Laprise 1/3
Here is the Parlay I like for both of this weekends cards. Starting off in Sweden, first up is the Irish Warrior Cathal Pendred who is dropping back down to his natural weight class and where he has been dominating on the European scene before his UFC stint. A fighter who is not great in a lot of areas but when he puts everything together is very strong to face. A never give up or give in attitude is perhaps his strongest attribute and against Gasan Ulamatov he will need this, he will most likely try and take this fight to the ground but I can just see Cathal outworking him and getting the decision victory.
Both Nico Musoke and Mairbek Taisumov have very tricky opponents Musoke fights back at home in Sweden against Alexander Yakolev and even in his last loss to former TUF winner Kelvin Gastelum he showed heart and took the fight to him. Taisumov also has a very tricky opponent in Marcin Bandel who is dropping down to the Lightweight division for the first time. Bandel's strength is most definently his BJJ Game as his last 12 wins have come via first round submission with 6 of those coming by heel hook but I just believe Taisumov has more on the feet and stops takedowns fairly well and that's why I think he will get the decision victory.
On to Canada now and first up "The Hooligan" Patrick Holohan tries to hopefully end another good run for the SBGi team with a victory here against a late replacement in Chris Kelades I will be majorly surprised if this fight gets out of the first round and Holohan should win via KO/TKO or Submission fairly easily.
On to TUF nations Canada vs Australia Welterweight winner Chad Laprise as he drops down a weight class to face Yosdenis Cedeno. In this match up Laprise has advantages everywhere he is quicker, has better footwork, more power... you see where I'm going. I like Laprise by TKO here and lastly I went with Daron Cruickshank in perhaps the best fight on the Halifax card with Anthony Njokuani. Both fighters excel in Kickboxing and Taekwondo respectively but I feel Cruickshank has the better MMA skills overall and mixes his striking with takedowns better and I feel he will do that in this contest.
Bet 2
£10 stake returns £60
Ilir Latifi 2/5
Tor Troeng 4/5
Paul Felder 11/8
So this treble here is a bit of a risky one here but sometimes you need to risk to get the rewards. First up Tor Troeng has a very tough match up against the durable Krzysztof Jotko but this is do or die for Tor and fighting on home soil I just give him the advantage.
In Dublin in July he looked terrible and gassed early which is not like him and he made a lot of mistakes in the clinch which I think he would have sorted but as I said this fight is very close but I believe he is the better grappler and also does very well to scramble when in bad positions like he did in the Rafael Natal fight.
Next up is Ilir Latifi who in his last 3 UFC fights has looked nothing but impressive and has shown us something different in every fight he has been in. Tomorrow he fights veteran tournament fighter and UFC newcomer Jan Blachowicz, this fight is a lot closer than what people think. Blachowicz is a tough opponent for Latifi but looking at some of his fights I think Latifi will have all the answers for the debuting pole and will eventually wear him down and finish late in the fight.
Last in the treble is another newcomer who I think is also the best underdog of the week. That fighter is UFC debutant Paul Felder in his match up with Jason Saggo its the classic Striker v Grappler with Felder being the far more superior striker who trains with another phenomenal striker in The Cowboy Donald Cerrone. In his last fight Felder finished with a devastating heel kick KO which shows you some of the arsenal that he has. If "The Irish Dragon" can stop Saggo taking this to the ground he will win this fight all night long so if you put this risky bet on I wish you all the best and lets hope we win money together.
Bet 3
£5 Stake Returns £126
Zubaira Tukhugov via decision 8/5
Mairbek Taisumov via decision 5/2
Cathal Pendred via decision 7/4
Here are the bets that I love and at Unibet you have the chance to pick how the fights will finish. Even if you throw a pound on it and it comes in you're going to get great profit regardless.
So there are the bets I like for this weekend but remember this is only some advice from myself always go with your own thoughts and maybe change some fighters around and see what you feel comfortable with but I wish you all the best.
