UFC Fight Night 56 takes place Nov. 8 at Ginasio Municipal Tancredo Nevas in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The event will broadcast live on BT Sports in the UK and Fox Sports in US following Fight Pass prelims. Looking to bounce back from the first loss of his career, when he was defeated by Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night 37 in March, Manuwa was set to fight for the first time outside of the UK, taking on Pride legend Shogun Rua in the main event at UFC Fight Night 56. The British striker will now have to wait longer for a chance to get back in the win column with it not yet know how long the former UCMMA champion will be out of action.
His opponent Rua, himself looking to bounce back for a loss in his last fight, where he was knocked out in brutal fashion by Dan Henderson will now face former Strikeforce challenger Ovince St. Preux, who was expected to face Francimar Barroso in evenings co-main event.
Former UFC Light-Heavyweight champion Rua, represent a huge step up in class for Preux from his original opponent Barroso, as he looks to return to winning ways following a loss in his last fight to Ryan Bader. Prior to the loss to Bader, St. Preux was on a 4 fight win streak in the UFC including finishes over Ryan Jimmo, Nikkita, Krylov, and Cody Donovan. It is not yet know if Fancimar Barroso will still feature on the card.
With the addition of Rua vs St. Preux, UFC Fight 56 now features:
