In an exclusive pre-fight interview with Kingdom MMA, Matt Inman (13-6) talks about his ‘strong’ and ‘dangerous’ ground game ahead of his upcoming test against Lewis Long (8-3) at Cage Warriors 73 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, November 1st.
Inman, the SBG Manchester fighter said: “Lew Long is a good fight, a good strong opponent, he’s very experienced in Cage Warriors. He’s coming off a good win against Steve Dinsdale in Wales.
“He’s got a bit of momentum behind him and he’s definitely a good strong dangerous opponent.”
the Manchester based fighter has six TKO/KOs to his name, but Long has never been finished by strikes: “My striking is dangerous because I can mix things up, I can use my knees and elbows well as well.”
He is coming off a loss to Mauro Chimento Jr. at Cage Warriors 68, which ‘definitely’ derailed any title hopes. However Inman believed it was simply just a ‘bad night’ on his behalf.
“I wasn't myself, I've kinda done a lot of reflection on it and thought back. I trained hard, I always do, I was fit and ready there’s no doubt, but my last few fights I got into the mind-set just go harder and that’s all I was doing, I wasn't kinda thinking.
“Like everyone was saying it was a body shot, that wasn't the shot that did the damage in that fight I don’t think, I actually I caught a shot on the top of my head.” Inman added “I couldn't really remember anything until watching the video back. The body shot kinda finished the game off, it was just a bad night I think.”
