Aaron Aby ahead of FCC 11 "I want to be the best of the elite"

Full Contact Contender 11 returns to the Macron Stadium, Bolton this Saturday with a packed card full of amateur and pro fights.  One fighter looking to carry on climbing the pro flyweight rankings is The MMA Academy’s Aaron Aby.

In his last outing at FCC 10, he bounced back from a decision loss to Mick Gerrard in emphatic fashion by submitting Scott Gregory in the first round.

“It was good. I was disappointed with how the Mick Gerrard fight went so it was nice to get back to winning ways and have some fun. Scott brought some challenges to the table and it was nice to test my skills against them and come out with a win.

This time he faces Danny Missin who is currently riding a 3 fight losing streak. However, Aby isn’t interested in what the records say.

“I don’t look at past records or past fights. Every fight is a new opportunity and a different situation. Styles make fights! People develop in between fights if they train some people don't. I’m not really interested in Danny's record or his past fights I’m interested in winning that fight on the night. I’m motivated to progress and challenge myself”

Aby and Missin are both known for solid ground games with Aby having two submission victories and Missin three. With that in mind, Saturday’s clash could turn into an all out grappling affair but Aby maintains that it is an MMA fight and he will be prepared for wherever it may go.

“An MMA fight can go anywhere. I’m not planning to fight any style but MMA. This fight is like an open play, I'll be the best MMA fighter on the night I can be and look to take opportunities where ever they may arise”

It’s well documented that Aby suffers from cystic fibrosis with him often raising money on previous FCC shows for good causes. Many would think that such a serious disease would significantly strain his training as a pro fighter but he is enthusiastic towards the challenges ahead of him.

“I just have to be smart with my training. Some days I have to listen to my body and give it a rest. I think I am no different to most people. I just take extra care with myself to make sure I stay healthy. Each day is a new day” Said Aby

With a 3-1 pro record, the future is looking bright for the 24 year old

“As a fighter and as a person, I want to work my way towards the top. I want to be the best of the elite and reach my ultimate potential. I try not to look to far ahead because that’s when you miss opportunity's to learn and develop. One fights at a time, one training session at a time, one second at a time. Live in the moment.

Aaron would like to thank the following in the lead up to his fight:

“My Team at The MMA Academy, head coaches Jason Tan and Peter Davies. I would also like to thank Super-gym Knutsford and IPC Wrexham for help making a better fighter. All my family and friends and the CF Trust. Also my sponsors Davinci intelligent Recruitment and USC nutrition.
